A recent poll in England shows that almost 97% of regular church attenders look forward to hearing the sermon. Unfortunately only 17% said that the sermons cause them to change their attitudes or change their perspective on issues. While it’s nice to know that the people filling our church chairs are cominng with expectant hearts it’s disturbing that they are leaving in much the same state that they arrived in. There are many reasons for going to church on a regular basis. Social interaction, worship experience, and learning to list a few. We would be foolish to think that every sermon taught by every pastor every Sunday mornig is going to be life changing, however the statistic of only 17% of people being touched is telling. Sometimes it can be a case of people are in a church that teaches something that doesn’t coincide with what they believe to be true. Other times people aren’t really ready to apply what they’ve learned. In either case hopefully people won’t give up and stop searching for answers in a place that will hopefully provide the answers if they are willing to
