In the midst of the disaster in Haiti comes a story of a young man who has been able to show people living in makeshift camps the love of Christ. The Baptist Press reported about a man named Jean Junior Cineas who grew up in the family of a voodoo priest in Haiti. At a young age he heard the Gospel from a Baptist missionary and turned his heart to God. He is now sharing all he knows to be the truth to those suffering in the wake of the earthquake. While there may not be any church chairs for people to sit in and hear the gospel he is touching the lives of people in the area by meeting them in their tents. He brings Bibles translated into Creole to share with those that want to be discipled and teaches them the hope that can be found only in Jesus. Voodoo may be a prevalent religion in Haiti but many are realizing that God’s power is mightier than anything they believed in before and are turning to Jesus to find the hope they’ve been missing.
