In part 1 I talked about why imported church chairs are less expensive up front and why it’ll cost you more in the end. In this post I want to go over the sometimes unseen implications of buying cheaper imports. There have been many stories in the news about recalled products from foreign countries. Everything from cat food to drywall has been proven to be dangerous and removed from the market. The costs can be higher than anything we want to think about. In the case of the drywall, the product safety agency received nearly 2,100 complaints of rotten egg smell along with corroded wires and pipes. Many people had to evacuate their homes after electrical and plumbing systems failed, costing thousands of dollars to replace. While not all imports are faulty, it’s always better to buy USA made products knowing that the standards are set higher in all manufacturing processes.
